How many times have you completed DTAG?
How many times have you completed DTAG?
Ok, how many times have people completed Drakan: The Ancient Gates? 'Cos I know that I've completed it three times, but I normally go to complete it and them someone overwrites my game or it crashes when I save it! [:(!]
Anyways, I'm going to complete it again, I'll make sure this time! [;)]

Re: How many times have you completed DTAG?
8 times so far with more to come. There's so many different ways to fight your way through. To get the most fun/fear/thrills, I recommend a play through as a 1-1-1 character. The first level special swords and spells can get you through. The first level bows are pretty useless at the higher levels but the spells are a good substitute. Then play as a 8-1-1, 1-8-1, and 1-1-8. You'll develop different techniques and strategies to make your play of the game more enjoyable.
Try to use Arokh with just flame also. The secondary flame attack is one of the strongest weapons available. You can kill most of the 'boss' characters with Rynn. Fight the Golem on foot and see how easy it is to push him around. I've found in some cases, you can stand in the rivers and kill the dragons with bow or magic and take little or no damage. I was able to jump on a dragon health pickup after I killed it just over the river and use it as Rynn. Better than using a health potion. You'll get your ashes hauled more than once, but that's why it's so much fun. Give that poor old dragon a rest and go kick some butt.

I am such a sad case, I don't own a ps2 or 3, and have Never played TAG! I should try and emulate it onto pc, but it probably wont be the same. I have missed so much!

Re: How many times have you completed DTAG?
The PS2 emulator can be a faff to get working however when it does it works fine. Drakan did not work properly on my PS3 and it has multiple game breaking errors such as the animation to pull levers resulted in a freeze-up and sometimes navigating the inventory.
It worked fine on my PC though via PCSX2 and that is how I played it the last time as I no longer own my PS2. I used PS3 controllers using the unofficial PC drivers and connected my PC to a TV so it looked virtually the same as it did on the console proper. If you don't want to bother with all this faffing about and / or don't have a good spec PC then PS2's can be picked up second hand for as little as a tenner.
The emulator requires fast dual core CPU (Core i3 or better) and a good graphics card. I ran it on an AMD Phenom2 3.4Ghz quad core and ATI Radeon HD4890 with no problems and a good frame rate.

Re: How many times have you completed DTAG?
must have completed it like 10 times at least. Like an old comforter it's so engrossing no matter how many times you play… lets you wash the days bullush*t off of you and really is an escape. Probably will play it many, many, more times. Even bought a PS-2 long ago still in the box for when my current one craps out. Is it just me, or are the some of the old PS-2 games more fun to play and really better than the PS-3 or PS-4 games? IMO the last PS-2 Resident Evil is better than any other one they have offered since then.
I'll admit to owning a PS-3 but really, not many games have been real winners (Bioshock, Resistance, to name a few). Too much emphasis on multi player and I can't help feel like game play quality suffers for it. Almost like the gameplay is dumbed down.

Re: How many times have you completed DTAG?
I completed the game about 20 times and counting. Though just going through the variations of character vocation styles (Archer, Mage, and Warrior). I often use Drakan's various glitches to further enhance some new-game experiences. For example, like adding night time transitions to Surdana and Ravenshold at certain points in the game to give it a good feel at how long Rynn's struggles last, since I don't think she completed her quest in just one day. I even done a play through where I went to Stratos at Level 1 to see how hard that would be. Drakan: The Ancients' Gates for the past 8 years has become my sandbox to exploit many different glitches and discover some new ones. This fuels my desire to play the game far more than I would have if the game had zero glitches.
Explore and exploit, my two favorite things to do while playing an old-favorite game.
Re: How many times have you completed DTAG?
I could not say,as I've lost count of many times I played through it.I can say though, that it took me 2 years to complete it in it's entirety, the first time around(best $30 I have ever spent in my life!)
