Playing Drakan on Windows 7 WITHOUT the 445 patch?

Is this possible? So far it doesn't seem to work, but have anyone else had any success? I don't "usually" update my Operating System (Have turned off Windows Update) or games, but will it work?

No, the patch is required for XP and later operating systems - the game was made when Windows 95/98/ME were around.
